Interview with Adrian Underhill

Dear Adrian, you facilitated the 1st Prolant Cap Conference in Bratislava. What was it like for you?
For me it is a pleasure to be with people who are learning and inquiring, while trying to develop human situations for the benefit of all.

When you were asked to come and lead the Conference, what was in it that persuaded you to come and join this young idea/project/team?
I am attracted by innovation especially when it is a connected with a passion for intelligent change

Your presentation was titled „Leading, learning and organisations“ – what is the main message in it?
That everyone can practise leadership. It is not something reserved for the few that makes the rest of us into followers, but something that we can all do with our own characters and from our own positions, BUT we need to develop a world view of connectivity. So the new discipline for all is systems thinking.

Who did you meet at the Conference? Was there a moment you remember the most?
Delightful conversations with many people.

You agreed to become a „God father“ to the Prolant Cap Team and so you are going to the 2nd Prolant Cap that will take place in the first week of June 2018 at Anglolang Academy, in Scarborough, England.
I hope to be there, and it is pencilled in, but can’t confirm until we have dates.

What do you think this is going to be like? Where will have Prolant Cap grown and de-veloped by then?
That’s what I’m looking forward to seeing. Already a number of forward looking questions and suggestions have been discussed. There will be a lot of work and many distractions. A lot will depend on how you Jana manage the next step, so that you can share the leadership with a few others so that you do not wear yourself out, and can overcome the difficulties. PLUS it allows a diversity of ideas and approaches and valuable team skills, PLUS if this small ad hoc committee is well chosen and made clear to all, then everybody feels represented and everyone is kept on board and committed.

I say ‘ad hoc’ committee so you don’t have to create a formal structure, until later in the process when you can see how it’s all going.

It may well be that you have already done something like this, or have developed a better alternative.

Thanks again for the great experience and good luck with the project!

Adrian
